Lisbon | Lisboa : A Lifetime Ago

Lisbon has been my #1 city on my travel bucket list since I was 16-17 years old. A psychic once asked me “Name a place/city, top of mind answer.” I replied: “Lisbon.” She then asked, “Why did you pick that? WHere is that place?” And I looked at her, surprised at my answer as well. I said “I don’t know.” At that time, I didn’t even know where ‘Lisbon’ was. I found out later on that it’s located in Portugal.

There just this sense of familiarity with the place, as if I had been there already in some other lifetime, I don’t know. I refused to read any travel book on Lisbon until I could get my feet right there, walking on its cobbled streets. This happened September of 2013. Strange as this may sound to you, but the place felt like ‘home’. I had travelled extensively for years by myself. I know how a ‘first-time’ feels like. I didn’t feel a bit of that as I explored the city on my first night. I don’t have any explanation. I don’t know if you believe in it, I don’t even know if I could…but maybe, just maybe I was there, lived there, had a life there….on some distant lifetime ago. 🙂

Mosteiros dos Jeronimos, #Lisboa #Lisbon #Portugal . One of the finest European late gothic Manueline architecture I have seen. I was literally rendered speechless when I walked inside the church. Built in 1459.
